چکیده

Abstract Background The role of adipokines such as leptin and adiponectin in regulating the immunity has been documented, however data concerning their consequence on multiple sclerosis (MS) Egyptian patients are deficient. aim this study is to demonstrate serum levels MS assess association with disease disability severity. A case–control including 60 subjects (30 30 age, sex body mass index-matched healthy controls) was performed. Results Serum level significantly higher among than controls ( P < 0.001) while not elevated = 0.24). There a significant positive correlation between (Expanded Disability Status Scale) r 0.678; 0.001), severity (Multiple Sclerosis Severity Score) 0.631; progression (progression index) 0.461; 0.01). no statistically disability, or progression. Conclusions had insignificant compared controls. Leptin potential However, useful biomarker disease,

Serum Leptin and Adiponectin Levels in Korean Patients with Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a disorder caused by genetic and immunological factors. Leptin, a peptide hormone secreted predominantly from adipose tissue, regulates energy intake and expenditure, as well as the T-helper response. There have been conflicting reports regarding serum levels of leptin and adiponectin in patients with psoriasis. In the present study, we measured serum levels of leptin and adiponect...

Gene Expression of CD226 and Its Serum Levels in Patients With Multiple Sclerosis

Background: Recent studies have found some genetic variants as a risk factor for autoimmune diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Cluster of Differentiation 226 (CD226) is one of the risk factors for MS.  Objectives: The present study aimed to evaluate the gene expression of CD226, and its protein serum level in peripheral blood samples of MS patients and healthy individuals. Materials & ...

Increased IL-17A but Decreased IL-27 Serum Levels in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis

Background: Effector CD4+ T cell subsets play an important role in Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Interleukin-27 (IL-27) suppresses Th (Th1, Th2 and Th17) cells and dampens autoimmunity and tissue inflammation by promoting the generation of Type 1 regulatory T cells (Tr1). Objective: To identify the relative levels of IL-27 and IL-17A in MS disease. Method: In a case-control study, venous blood was c...

P37: Decreased Serum Levels of Interleukin-35 Among Patients with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis

The regulatory role of interleukin-35 (IL-35) in the immunopathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (MS) is suggested in very few studies. We aimed to measure serum levels of IL-35 among clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) and relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS) patients and evaluate the associations between this cytokine and the disease clinical course. This cross-sectional study was conducted during 2017 ...

Serum Leptin Levels in Treatment-Naive Patients with Clinically Isolated Syndrome or Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis

Several studies have investigated leptin levels in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) with somewhat conflicting results. They have all focused on patients with established relapsing-remitting (RR) MS but have not specifically looked at patients with clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) suggestive of MS, in the early stages of disease. In this study, serum leptin levels were measured in 89 trea...
